Victim Empowerement
Our Safe Home in Philippi provides abused women with safety, healing, and empowerment. It is the only shelter in the area that supports women in rebuilding their lives with dignity by enhancing their employability, independence, and access to medium-term safety net.
Sizakuyenza Safe Home provides a safe haven and social work support services to abused women and their children in Philippi and surrounding areas, ensuring their safety, healing, and reintegration into society.
The Safe House has 20 bed spaces and accommodates women and children. The beneficiaries walk in seeking refuge and safety. Through a structured referral system which includes the government, the South African Police Services, other Non-Profit Organizations and networks, we provide a safe space for women and children who are running away from abusive situations.
Therapeutic Counselling/ Educational Group Sessions
The Safe Home Social Workers and Housemothers help the residents adjust to life in their new home. They are also provided with individual and group counselling for beneficiaries to begin their healing process and deal with any emotional, psychological barriers and/ or social obstacles.

OTHER ACTIVITIES
Family Intervention
At Sizakuyenza, we believe that GBV affects everyone involved. We can only end this scourge if men and families are involved. Everyone has an important role to play in bringing a stop to violence against women and children.
Court Preparation
In the case of those who must attend court, the social workers guide them through the court processes and prepare them to overcome any fear they may have. Women are educated about their rights. Counselling is provided to those who are not ready.
Skills Development
It is crucial that when the beneficiaries exit the safe house, they leave with skills to ensure that they are independent and self-reliant. They are also linked with job opportunities and encouraged to start their micro businesses.
